Outsourced accounting and bookkeeping

A full range of outsourced bookkeeping and accounting for your business.

Everything you’d expect from an in-house accounting and bookkeeping team

The Business Bookkeeper provides outsourced bookkeeping services for small businesses – sole traders, partnerships, freelancers, limited companies, contractors, and more.

Choose just the services from our wide range of options which will add value to your business and give you back the time you need. The average small business owner spends around many hours a month on bookkeeping – hours you could be spending increasing turnover, finding cheaper suppliers, managing staff, and keeping your customers happy.

No-one ever left a job to pursue their business ambitions feeling excited about doing the bookkeeping. For many entrepreneurs and small business owners, bookkeeping quickly becomes one of the areas of responsibility you dislike the most.

That’s because, no matter how intuitive software platforms like Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, and FreeAgent are, it needs a bookkeeper with training and experience to use them efficiently and correctly.

Professional financial bookkeeping and management reporting

Professional, accurate, and comprehensive financial bookkeeping allows us to run management reports on your company every time we bring your books up to date.

With each update, you’ll be able to access accounting management reports on your business and its performance. With those reports, your business will become more profitable with improved cash flow (we’ll issue and chase invoices for you) and better cost control (staff, stock, and so on).

And you can arrange a time to speak with the Business Bookkeeper to talk you through what each management report means and they’ll suggest ways you can use the information on your management reports to build a better business.

Fully managed payroll and staff cost monitoring

With the recent introductions of Real Time Information and workplace pensions, you require a specialist to run your payroll. With further changes to the systems expected to come now that Brexit has occurred, the Business Bookkeeper will make sure that your payroll and workplace pension systems are run to the standards required by HMRC and the accuracy and promptness expected by your staff.

We’ll manage the complexity of the payroll system from auto enrolment to Deductions of Earnings orders and there’s no need for you to worry about payroll-related issues like parental or adoption leave, staff absence, and sickness.

Invoicing and credit control

We’ll issue all invoices to clients on your behalf and our credit control team will make sure that payment is requested on or before the due date. If payment is not forthcoming, we use a set of proven approaches which persuade your client to make payment but without in any way damaging the relationship you have with them.

Improved cash flow

Greater profit margins and prompter payment mean better cash flow. The development and growth of so many businesses are held back through slow payment of invoices – late payment brings about the early end of 50,000 British businesses a year.

With our monthly management reports, we’ll be able to let you know if you need to reign in on spending to meet a forthcoming bill (like VAT, corporation tax, and so on) or whether you’ll have a surplus of cash which you could invest in the business or pay yourself more with.

The businesses which survive the longest and have the best chance of growing and prospering are those where there is an ongoing focus on cash flow and on the accumulation of cash in their business bank accounts.

You’ll have more time

Working with us, you’ll have more free time to work on your business.

Use this extra time to improve your business, make more profit from your customers, and build a more stable and durable business with the support, insights, and experience of a bookkeeping firm with a decade of experience in helping businesses of all sizes in many different sectors.

Additional services

As your registered tax agent, we (along with your accountant) will respond to all queries relating to your personal and business tax affairs made by HMRC.

In most cases, we’re able to assist HMRC without interrupting you. If we do need to contact you, we’ll let you know what we need from you in full so that we sufficiently answer HMRC’s query.

For limited companies, we’ll provide your accountant with all of your financial records via Xero well in advance of CT600 and Companies House deadlines so that they can prepare the most accurate accounts in the shortest space of time. We’ll provide your accountant with the information they need to complete year end accounts and we will liaise with them to answer any queries.

If you want to borrow money from the bank or raise money from investors, your track record and your experience is important if yours is not a new business. They will want to see that your business accounts are kept up to date, accurate, and comprehensive.

They will nearly always ask for management accounts going back six months or more often on a variety of different areas pertaining to the line of business you’re in. By working with the Business Bookkeeper and by showing that you’ve acted positively on the information contained in your management accounts, you give investors and funders confidence in you and your ability.
